As the name implies, fire cupping involves placing fire inside a glass bowl to eliminate the oxygen and subsequently create a strong vacuum. The cups are then placed on areas of the body where the tissues have become particularly tight. I generally use the cups in conjunction with massage on areas that are particularly tight or fibrous to encourage blood flow and removal of lymphatic waste.

On their own they are a great way to increase blood flow to localised areas of tension and tightness and speed up recovery for sportsman.

Used in conjunction with massage they are a great a tool to release stubborn or particularly tight areas without having to use less comfortable bodywork techniques such as trigger point release or frictions.
